Switching

How to switch business texting providers

What to export, what we handle, and how long it takes. Updated November 2, 2026.

The short answer

Switching to Signilio takes most teams 1 to 3 days. We port your existing numbers and handle the registration, bring over your opt-out list, and set up your account with you so the compliance setup is right from the first text. A number port or a registration review can occasionally take longer, so keep your current account open and sending until the move is finished.

How the switch works

  1. 01

    Tell us what you have

Your current provider, the numbers you text from, roughly how much you send and how many people work the replies. We plan the move around it.

  2. 02

Export your contacts and opt-out list

Download both from your current provider and send them to us, or give us access and we import them. Opt-outs go in before anything is sent, so people who opted out stay opted out.

  3. 03

We port your numbers and handle the registration

We move your existing local numbers to Signilio and register your brand and campaign, so carriers treat your texts as registered business messaging.

  4. 04

We set up your account and walk you through compliance

Your team, your numbers and your first campaign, configured with you, along with the consent, opt-out and quiet-hours setup that keeps your numbers healthy.

  5. 05

    Send your first campaign

Most teams are sending within 1 to 3 days; a port or registration review can occasionally take longer. Replies land in one shared inbox your team can assign.

What to have ready

  • Your contact list, as a CSV or spreadsheet export
  • Your opt-out (do-not-text) list, or access so we can pull it
  • The numbers you want to keep, and the account details for them at your current provider
  • Your business details for registration: legal name, EIN, address and website

Don't cancel your current provider before the move is finished. Numbers have to stay active there to be ported.

Common questions

How do I switch business texting providers?
Export your contacts and opt-out list, keep your current account open, and let the new provider port your numbers and register your brand and campaign. With Signilio, we port the numbers, handle the registration, bring over your opt-out list and set up the account with you. Most teams are sending within 1 to 3 days.
Can I keep my phone numbers when I switch?
In most cases, yes. Signilio ports your existing local numbers and handles the registration. Keep the numbers active with your current provider until the move is finished; a number that is cancelled first may not be recoverable.
Will my opt-out list carry over?
Yes. Export it from your current provider and send it to us, or give us access and we import it. It goes in before anything is sent, so people who opted out stay opted out.
How long does it take to switch?
Most teams are sending within 1 to 3 days. A number port or a registration review can occasionally take longer; keep sending from your current provider until the move is finished.
Do I have to register for 10DLC again?
Registration is tied to the provider you send through, so it is done again for the new one. Signilio handles brand and campaign registration as part of setup.
Should I switch from Twilio to save on messaging costs?
Not on the per-message price alone; an API's raw rate is lower than most finished platforms. The saving comes from what you no longer build and run yourself: the inbox, campaigns, opt-out handling, registration and the engineering time behind them. The Twilio comparison prices both at your volume.
